Nero gave a low hum of acknowledgment before speaking again. "If Mike escaped after failing to kill you, then its safe to assume hes long gone from this forest. Finding him now would be like trying to find a single drop of water in an ocean. Hes probably hiding somewhere in another region of the secret domain, licking his wounds and waiting for his chance to return."
Max remained silent, his expression unreadable.
After a moment, Nero continued, "But youll see him again eventually. When the Divine Palace Platform descends, everyone whos passed the trials will gather there. Its the final stage of this entire secret domain, the place where the strongest geniuses from every world come together."
"The Divine Palace Platform," Max repeated softly, his gaze turning distant.
"Yes," Nero said, nodding. "Its the last trial ground before the exit opens. The Seven Lords themselves oversee it. Whatever happens there determines who walks away with the true inheritances of this realm. If Mike is still alive—and I think he is—youll definitely meet him there."
Maxs eyes narrowed slightly, a faint glint of amusement flashing across them. "Good. Ill make sure to finish what he started then."
Nero looked at him for a long moment before chuckling quietly. "You really dont forgive or forget, do you?"
Max smiled faintly but didnt answer.
"Thank you, Brother Nero." Max smiled faintly, his tone calm but sincere. "Lets meet again in the core region of the secret domain after this. Im sure it will be far more interesting than what weve seen so far."
Nero returned the smile, his silver eyes gleaming faintly. "I would love to see how far youll go there," he said, his voice carrying quiet amusement. "See you in the core region, Max."
With that brief exchange, the two parted ways. Nero walked toward one of the shimmering spatial gates that marked the exit of the trial field, his figure fading into the blue light until it disappeared entirely. Max lingered for a few moments longer, glancing at the now-quiet platforms above, before stepping into another gate himself.
The familiar pull of teleportation surrounded him. When the light faded, Max found himself standing outside the trial region. The world around him was vast and silent, filled with the faint scent of metallic air and the distant hum of space energy flowing through invisible rifts.
As he began walking, his mind was preoccupied with a single thought—the Divine Palace Platform.𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
He had heard about it several times before, both from the leaders of the Middle Domain and from the discussions among the strongest geniuses before the secret domain had opened. The Divine Palace Platform wasnt just another trial. It was the true heart of the Heavenly Lord Secret Domain—the final destination, and the greatest opportunity this world had to offer.
According to what Max knew, the Divine Palace Platform was a structure that existed beyond the normal boundaries of the secret domain. It wasnt something that could be reached by walking or flying.
It descended only once, at the end of every cycle of trials, and it appeared for a limited time. Whoever entered it would face challenges beyond comprehension but would also gain the chance to step beyond their current limitations.
Max remembered what the elders of the Middle Domain had once told him about the Divine Rank and its terrifying difficulty. To reach the peak of the Divine Rank, one had to experience ten life and death cycles. Each cycle was a confrontation with the laws of existence itself—a process of breaking ones body, spirit, and soul before being reborn stronger than before.
But there was a terrible truth behind that path. Every cycle carried the risk of death. Half of those who attempted to break through never survived. The failure of one cycle meant the collapse of their foundation, their soul scattering into the void. It was a process feared even by those who had cultivated for tens of thousands of years.
Maxs steps slowed as he walked through the strange violet terrain of the inner domain, his expression thoughtful.
Because of those trials, countless experts throughout history had chosen to remain at the Mythic Rank forever rather than risk the cycle of death and rebirth that came with the Divine Rank.
Others who were already Divine Rank would spend thousands of years preparing for the next life and death cycle, fortifying themselves with treasures, techniques, and divine weapons, hoping that when the moment came, they would survive it.
But even then, few ever reached the higher levels of the Divine Rank. Those who did—the ones who reached the seventh, eighth, ninth, or even tenth cycle—were often legends in their own worlds, figures of immense reverence and fear.
The Divine Palace Platform, however, was said to change all of that.
It was rumored to be a place where the laws of life and death themselves were subdued. A place where one could transcend the natural limits of the Divine Rank without facing the mortal risk of annihilation. The energies of that platform, left behind by the Seven Lords who created the Heavenly Lord Secret Domain, were said to stabilize the process of evolution through the life and death cycles. It was a miracle in the truest sense—a structure capable of rewriting destiny itself.
Max didnt know the full truth behind these claims, but he had heard enough to understand why so many worlds and races fought to enter this domain every time it opened. The chance to step beyond mortality, to touch the realm beyond the Divine Rank, was something no cultivator could ignore.
His red eyes flickered faintly with determination as he continued walking.
"Even if half of what they said is true," Max murmured to himself, "then the Divine Palace Platform is worth everything."
He looked up at the sky of the secret domain. The strange violet and silver clouds swirled slowly above him, their movements calm but endless. Somewhere far above those clouds, the Divine Palace Platform would eventually appear, glowing like a beacon that called only to those who dared to defy the limits of the world.
Maxs expression turned solemn, his gaze sharp as a blade. "Lets see what this opportunity truly holds," he said quietly. "If it really can help me reach beyond the Divine Rank, then Ill seize it, no matter what stands in my way."
